Dolphins, dining and day trips- not your usual team weekend
One of the highlights of working at Liquid is our annual team weekend.
Unlike many office trips that usually involve days spent in a hotel conference room in strategy meetings, and undertaking team building exercises, Liquid’s team weekend is all about the experience.
This annual trip away gives us a great opportunity to spend quality time with our colleagues and the chance to enjoy new experiences together. The team weekend allows us to really get to know one another, especially those who we don’t get to see on a daily basis, who are usually just a voice down the phone or an email in our inbox. With offices in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK we can go for substantial periods of time without seeing our colleagues from other offices.
The annual trip also provides us each with the opportunity to challenge ourselves personally; trying a new food, a new activity, or pushing ourselves socially. Overall the experience is a great way of strengthening our relationships with our colleagues.
This year the team weekend was hosted in Jersey, one of our four office locations. Those of us who are based in the island acknowledge that many people have a preconceived idea about Jersey, imagining a sleepy, small, fortress island (which is home to Bergerac). We wanted to use the team weekend to challenge these ideas and give our UK team a real taste of island life.
We showed our colleagues the very best the island has to offer, from our globally renowned dairy products, fresh Jersey Royal potatoes and locally sourced seafood. The team were definitely not going to go hungry.
As well as showing the team the culinary delights the island has to offer, this trip was also the perfect opportunity to showcase the island’s position in the English Channel, with an exhilarating rib ride to Carteret in France for dinner on the beach. Seeing a pod of dolphins on the way back to Jersey was a great experience for our whole team, and really made this trip extra special and certainly memorable!
